Grux OS is a free, open source (MIT) Mac app built to be changed by your own coding agent. Open Optimize Grux, pick Change it, and say what you want different, for example a red accent or a new button. Grux writes a work order and adds what it just measured on your Mac: which build is installed, where the source lives and which settings files it reads, so the agent is not guessing. Paste the order into Claude Code, or any coding agent, and it carries the change through twelve stations: requirements and analysis, design, build and validate, then install, verify and clean up. It stops for your yes after the plan and after the result, and after the design too when the change touches more than one file. Nothing changes without that yes, and the order is only done once the rebuilt app is installed and checked while it runs.
You already have a coding agent that can read the source, build it and prove the change. So Grux does the part only Grux can do, measuring this particular Mac, and hands the agent one order it can run end to end. The limit on what you can ask for is your agent's, not Grux's.
| Phase | Stations | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Understand | Preflight, requirements, analysis | Your review: the plan |
| Design | Design, architecture, governance | Your review: the design, when more than one file changes |
| Build | Build, validate | Your review: the result |
| Ship | Install, verify, monitor, cleanup | Done |
The agent appends one line to the order's progress.log at every station, so Grux can show you where it is without asking it.
You are this person's coding agent. Grux is an open source (MIT) macOS app.
Nothing about it changes without the person's yes, and the only limits are theirs.
Carry this work order along the line below, station by station. Stop at each of
the three reviews and wait for the person to say yes.
That text is in the public source, in WorkOrder.swift, so you can read exactly what Grux tells your agent before you paste it.
One request asked for a button in the title bar that opens and closes the pane. It took under an hour from order to installed app, and about a third of that was the agent waiting on a yes. The agent wrote the tests first, and when the first install drew the button at zero width it caught that on the running app and rebuilt.
